Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie

I love smoothies and experimenting with new ideas, like my Strawberry Plum Smoothie, but other days I just want a recipe I have been making for years. My favorite healthy drink ever is a Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie. Don't be deceived by the picture; I may have put the smoothie in 2 pretty little cups, but after snapping some photos, I drank all of it myself because it's my favorite and completely guilt-free.

Ingredients

2/3 cup fresh spinach leaves (a small handful)
1/2 cup milk
1 banana
1 1/2 tablespoons creamy peanut butter
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
2-3 ice cubes (omit if banana is frozen)

Directions

1) In a blender or food processor, puree spinach leaves in milk until smooth.

2) Add banana, peanut butter, vanilla, and ice and puree. Serve immediately.

This smoothie gives you a fruit, vegetable, and protein all in 1 cup. I often pair this with oatmeal or whole grain toast. What do you serve with your smoothies?

  1. I love peanut butter and smoothies so am going to try this one. I've noticed when I add honey to my smoothies it just sits on the bottom of my magic bullet - so it will be interesting to see if the peanut butter does the same. I use my smoothie as my 10:00 snack, so don't eat them with anything.

    1. Good luck. With my Ninja peanut butter mixes in fine. The only way I've found to get honey mixed into smoothies is to first stir it into yogurt.

  2. I love a good smoothie. I am not a big peanut butter fan so I've not experimented with it. My favorite smoothie ingredient is raspberries.
